India and France on January 26 signed an unprecedented and ambitious Defence Space Agreement, which could lead to the launch of military satellites with offensive and defense capabilities, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The agreement, which was not made public or disclosed to the media, was signed by French Defense Minister Sebastian LOCORNU and India’s National Security Advisor Ajeet Doval on the sidelines of President Emmanuel Macron’s “At Home” Republic Day reception with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati bhawan.
